Homeownership Facilitator & Coach

DBA Origin SC is a fast-paced, North Charleston nonprofit agency in need of a full-time Homebuyer Facilitator and Coach. Since 1888, Origin SC has remained one of the leading nonprofit human service organizations in providing professional financial and housing counseling services. Our mission is to empower individuals to achieve financial and housing stability through advocacy, counseling, and education.

  • The Workshop Facilitator position is primarily responsible for managing all financial literacy workshop events; including outreach, event planning and marketing, material content, and information delivery methods for the Homeownership Dept.  
  • Develop and execute outreach community awareness events to increase workshop participations.
  • This position will require working a flexible schedule and must accommodate some night and weekend events.
  • Position will assist with processing support assignments as needed.
  • Position will also support the Coaching Counseling team and offer one-on-one Coaching appointments.  Coaching Counselors are responsible for:  providing outstanding customer service by answering/returning calls, greeting clients and visitors, scheduling appointments, providing budgeting advise and developing effective action plans to include strategies focused on resolving the credit issues uniquely tailored for each client’s credit profile, so that all clients and visitors feel that they are receiving respect, concern, and quality service.
  • Applicant must be organized, courteous, responsive, resourceful, outgoing, motivated, and compassionate.
  • Must have excellent Microsoft Office knowledge, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or 2 to 3 years related experience and/or training in Financial Services, Counseling, Banking, Credit and Collection; loan processing,  or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Position requires obtaining HUD Certification, National Foundation for Credit Counseling Certification, SC Department of Consumer Affairs licensure, and Home Equity Conversion Mortgage Counseling licensure.

Debt Management Program Counselor

Our mission is to empower individuals to achieve financial and housing stability through advocacy, counseling, and education.

  • The DMP Counselor is primarily responsible for providing financial counseling to individuals in debt while providing accurate, relevant, and helpful information to assist in developing solutions for money management/credit related issues via telephone, in-person, and online.
  • Onboard new eligible DMP clients by providing information and best practice methods supporting the DMP program.  Develop and discuss repayment plans available to the client and review DMP enrollment documents.
  • This position will provide continuous customer support to all active DMP clients.
  • DMP Counselor is responsible for providing outstanding customer service by answering/returning calls, greeting clients and visitors, scheduling appointments so that all clients and visitors feel that they are receiving respect, concern, and quality service.
  • Courtesy, responsiveness, flexibility, and resourcefulness are necessary to respond to the needs of the clients and the organization.
  • Applicant must be outgoing, motivated, and compassionate.
  • Very strong organizational skills are a must in this fast-paced environment.
